Freezer Room Repairs
PerthCommercial Freezer Room Repairs & Servicing for Perth Businesses
Temperature rising, ice buildup on the coils or a freezer room that's stopped working altogether — when your frozen stock is at risk, you need a technician on site fast. Tempo is commercial-only and services freezer rooms across Perth Metro for food businesses, hospitality venues, cold storage operators and more.
Freezer Room Repairs & Servicing Perth
A freezer room failure is one of the most urgent refrigeration breakdowns a business can face. Unlike a coolroom, the margin for error is smaller — stock starts to thaw quickly and the cost of lost product adds up fast. Whether it's a temperature fault, a compressor that's stopped running, excessive ice buildup or a door that won't seal properly, getting the diagnosis right on the first visit matters.
Tempo is a commercial-only refrigeration specialist. We don't service domestic freezers — every job we attend is a commercial site. Freezer room repairs are a core part of what we do, and we carry the parts and equipment to diagnose accurately and complete most repairs in a single visit.
Our freezer room work sits within our broader commercial refrigeration services across Perth. If you also have coolroom or other refrigeration equipment on site, we can cover everything in one visit.
Freezer Room Repairs
Temperature faults, compressor failures, refrigerant loss and electrical faults diagnosed and repaired fast.
Ice & Frost Buildup
Defrost system faults, blocked drain lines and evaporator coil ice buildup identified and cleared.
Door Seals & Hardware
Worn door seals, sagging hinges, latches and door closers repaired or replaced to restore a proper seal.
Planned Maintenance
Regular servicing to catch faults before they become failures — and keep your frozen stock protected.
Recognise Any of These?
These are the faults and complaints we hear most often from Perth businesses. Most have a straightforward fix — but left too long, they become expensive.
Freezer room not holding temperature
The most common callout. Usually a compressor fault, refrigerant leak or a condenser that's overdue for a clean. Can also be a door seal issue letting warm air in constantly.
Temperature fluctuating overnight
Often a defrost cycle that's running too long or a thermostat drifting out of calibration. Happens gradually so it's easy to miss until stock is affected.
Warm spots or uneven freezing
Airflow issues caused by a failing evaporator fan, blocked vents or ice buildup restricting circulation inside the room.
Compressor not starting or short-cycling
A compressor that trips off and restarts repeatedly is under stress — usually high head pressure, a refrigerant issue or an electrical fault. Needs attention before it fails completely.
Excessive ice buildup on coils
The defrost system has failed or the defrost drain is blocked. Ice buildup on evaporator coils reduces airflow and cooling efficiency until the coil is completely blocked.
Ice forming on the floor
Usually a blocked or frozen condensate drain line, or warm air coming in through a failing door seal causing condensation to freeze on the floor.
Door seal worn, cracked or pulling away
A worn door seal is one of the most common reasons a freezer room struggles to hold temperature. Warm air gets in constantly and the compressor works overtime to compensate.
Door not closing or latching properly
Sagging hinges or a worn latch cause the door to sit out of alignment. Even a small gap lets enough warm air in to affect temperature and increase running costs.
Controller displaying error codes
Temperature controllers and thermostats display fault codes when something is out of range. We interpret the fault, identify the underlying cause and repair the source — not just reset the controller.
Loud or unusual compressor noise
Rattling, grinding or a compressor that sounds like it's working harder than usual are early warning signs of a developing fault. Better to investigate before it fails mid-week.
Fan motor not running
Evaporator or condenser fan motor failures reduce airflow and cooling capacity significantly. The room may still appear cold on the controller while stock temperatures are rising.
Water pooling inside the room
A blocked or overflowing condensate drain. The blockage is often ice further down the drain line, caused by a defrost fault or a drain that wasn't installed with enough fall.

Freezer Room Repairs — FAQs
What are the most common freezer room faults you repair?
Temperature failures, compressor faults, refrigerant leaks, defrost system failures causing ice buildup on coils, blocked drain lines, worn door seals and fan motor failures. Most of these are diagnosed and repaired on the first visit.
My freezer room is not holding temperature — what could it be?
The most common causes are a refrigerant leak, a failing compressor, a dirty condenser coil or a door seal that's letting warm air in. We diagnose on the first visit and explain the fault before starting any repair work.
There's ice building up on the coils — is that serious?
Yes. Ice buildup on the evaporator coils means the defrost system has failed or the drain is blocked. Left unchecked, the coil will ice over completely and airflow stops — the room loses cooling capacity quickly from there.
Water is pooling on the floor of my freezer room — why?
Almost always a blocked or frozen condensate drain line. The drain can freeze further down the line even if the blockage isn't visible. We clear the blockage and check the drain is pitched correctly to prevent it recurring.
The door seal looks fine but the room still won't hold temperature — could it still be the door?
Yes. A seal can look intact but have lost its flexibility and no longer make full contact with the frame. We test the seal properly rather than going by appearance alone.
Do you repair all brands of freezer room equipment?
Yes. We work across all major commercial refrigeration brands including Bitzer, Copeland, Danfoss, Kirby and others. If it's a commercial freezer room, we can service it.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency callouts for freezer room breakdowns?
Yes. Freezer room failures put frozen stock at risk fast — we provide 24/7 emergency breakdown support. Call 08 9223 1213 directly for an emergency response.
Are you licensed to handle refrigerants in freezer rooms?
Yes. All refrigerant work is performed by ARCtick licensed technicians. Our licence number is AU065580.
Can you set up a maintenance program for our freezer room?
Yes. A planned maintenance program is the most cost-effective way to avoid freezer room failures. We service coils, check refrigerant levels, test door seals and inspect the full system on a schedule that suits your operation.
What areas do you cover?
We service all Perth Metro suburbs. Based in Osborne Park, we cover the full metro area including Perth CBD, Fremantle, Joondalup, Malaga, Welshpool, Canning Vale and all surrounding areas.
